"The Very Busy Spider" and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle
"The Big Red Barn" by Margret Wise Brown
"Green Eggs and Ham" by Dr. Seuss
Parker just got a new book through a wonderful organization called "Imagination Library" which was started by Dolly Parton. Basically you sign your child up (pretty much as soon as they arrive at the hospital up to 5 years of age) and you get sent a free, age appropriate book every month until they turn 5. The First Book is always "The Little Engine That Could." It is pretty awesome because all the books are favorites, or award winners, and they are all hardcover. Not to mention what kid doesn't LOVE getting mail. I know Parker just enjoys the books currently but before I know it he'll be running to the mailbox to check for his book each month. You can find out if your area has this amazing organization and see if you have a local agency who helps support it. If you do, then sign your little ones up!
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing. I just checked and they don't have an affiliate in our area...bummer! We have just started reading to Drake on a more consistent basis and he loves it!
ReplyDeleteWe're participating in that program, too! It's great to get a new book every month as Lucy LOVES it when we read to her.
