How to . . .

Make Penguin Cupcakes:

Here is what you'll need:
1. Dark Chocolate Frosting
2. Vanilla Frosting
3. Mini Chocolate chips
4. Big Marshmellows
5. Famous Chocolate wafers (or Oreo Footballs . . .which is all I could find)
6. Donut holes
7. Mini donuts
8. Yellow laffy taffy or starburst
9. Cupcakes
10. Black frosting coloring

First step is to make your favorite kind or homemade or box cupcakes.

Then frost your cupcakes slightly
Cut mini donuts in 1/2 and place 1/2 on the cupcake.
Then frost the middle of the donut so the donut hole fits . . .and sticks
Dirty ice and place in freezer for 10 (ish) minutes
In the meantime . . . tint the icing black and then microwave in a 2-cup glass measuring cup, at about 15 second increments until liquid-like. Think ganache like . . . Turn your cupcakes upside down and hold on the paper liner, dipping the cupcake into the frosting liquid until it reaches just about the top of the liner. Allow excess to drip off and then place upright . .I recommend on a pan or wipeable surface because sometimes it still drips.
Next cut off the end of marshmellows to be the belly and place on the penguin
If using Oreos footballs seperate the cream filling and attach the wings while the frosting is still setting.
Cut the laffy taffy or starburst into triangle beaks (you can do feet if you wish too) and attach while frosting is still tacky.
Fill a ziploc bag with white icing, and squirt small dollops for the whites of eyes, and add a chocolate chip for the pupil . . .
Then display :) They turned out pretty cute, not too complicated to make . . . but I would recommend doing it the day before or morning of (right who has time for that!) your party. Really they just look too cute, but taste good too!
